Colleen Castonguay
LaSalle Artist, Colleen Castonguay grew up in Windsor Ontario with a passion and love for art from early childhood. Her ability is to see the unique beauty in all things surrounding her. Through her art she captures that beauty in a way that commands the viewer to pause and appreciate the intricacy of our physical world. Although many would say Colleen is a self taught artist, she realizes her artistic talent is a wonderful gift from God and can take no credit for it.
Sharing her gift and love of art with others through teaching is what really inspires her. Colleen has been teaching professionally for more than 20 years. "Art is capable of engaging and enriching the spirit of people and has value beyond our understanding. It can bring out a sense of appreciation, joy and freedom that is often suppressed from childhood."
Colleen works in acrylic and oil, but her true love is the delicate nature of watercolour. She is a certified Bob Ross Instructor conducting half day Oil Painting Workshops in landscape, wildlife and floral as well as ongoing weekly watercolour classes. Colleen has developed a Home School Art Program for the Essex County area and is also professional framer by trade.
Her works are part of many private collections across Canada and the US. Commissioned works are considered on an individual basis. Colleen works out of her home studio and presently has the pleasure of teaching art to both children and adults at the Vineyard Community Church in Windsor, Ontario.
