Artist Statement by Alice Y. Seguin Sawicki
Born & raised in Timmins, ON. Alice & her family now reside near Englehart ON.
Alice has enjoyed art most of her life. With her increasing thirst for knowledge to better her abilities as an artist, Alice join the Kirkland Lake Art Club 1980's & some years later decided it was time to form an art club in Englehart & in 1989 she was one of the founding members of the Englehart Area Artists & was elected President of club. She held other positions within the club for over 15 yrs. Now Alice is a very active member as the N.O.A.A. Rep for the Temiskaming Palette & Brush Club & has recently rejoined the Kirkland Art Club. In 2008 N.O.A.A. Juried show, Alice earned her Northern Ontario Art Ass. Signature Letters/Pin which has earned her the right to use these letters next to her signature in all of her paintings.
Alice has attended numerous workshops to better her skills as an artist & enjoys sharing her artistic abilities with others by holding personal lessons & workshops from her home studio. Should you be interested in some lessons Please give her a call.
Painting for over twenty five years, Alice, is now known as ArtistMom from her website ArtistMom.net where you can view her work & read about her accomplishments.
Her original works hang in private collections such as ON. Northland Railway office in North Bay & Englehart Depot, Museum of Northern History & Veterans Affair Building in Kirkland Lake & other private collections throughout Northern ON & the States. Some of her works are on display at Canvas & Clay, New Liskeard, Timmins & Kirkland Lake Museums, her home & other establishments throughout Northern Ontario. Many of her works have been donated to various charitable groups over the years & Alice has donated some of her time towards free workshops for kids at local schools & libraries.
Alice believes art is about allowing your inner child to play, to experiment, to get lost in the moment, & most of all, have fun. Watercolour is her preferred medium but occasionally will experiment with other media.
