The Monolith is a solid cylinder of graphite with a thin lacquer coating. The transition from the point to the edge in a single stroke smoothly varies the thickness of a line. Available in HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B and 9B. Also Available in a 4B water-soluble version. Blur the distinction between line and form with the water-soluble monolith pencil. Draw on dry and then brush over with a wet brush to create beautiful washes of translucent gray. Cretacolor's Monolith Woodless Pencil is made with the purest graphite from Austria, formed into a 7-mm solid stick with a protective lacquer coating.
