Deep Sap Green PO48 10G PY3 PB27 Vert de Vessie Foncé

It deserves a place on every palette. This gorgeous forest green, almost black in mass tone, has excellent transparency, makes smooth, clean washes, and lifts surprisingly well for a staining colour.

Made with a blend of three pigments, it joins our DANIEL SMITH family of impressively strong dark greens, such as Jadeite Genuine and Perylene Green. Mix it with Pyrrol Orange to create a stellar redwood brown and Rhodonite Genuine for an interesting neutral blend.

DANIEL SMITH is the worldwide leader in watercolours for artists, offering the most beautiful colours of any manufacturer. Many traditional colours are relied upon by all artists, and many “truly unique” colours, made only by DANIEL SMITH, have become essential to watercolour artists.

PrimaTek Watercolours are made from minerals, often semi-precious minerals, which have been ground into pigments, mixed with gum arabic (the binder), and milled into PrimaTek Watercolours. The first was Lapis Lazuli Genuine in 1998; since then, many more colours have been added, such as Amethyst Genuine, Piemontite Genuine, and Serpentine Genuine. Most of these colours have excellent granulating effects that some artists call “magical.”

Luminescent Watercolours have special optical effects that are perfect for subjects possessing a sparkle, sheen, or reflective glow, such as the iridescence of hummingbird feathers or the sheen of metals.

Cadmium Hues, DANIEL SMITH has developed safe and vibrant Cadmium Hues with the density and richness of cadmium colours without the cadmium pigment. Virtually identical in colour to their namesakes, they are cleaner in mixtures and much more robust in tints. The functional properties—staining power, semi-transparency, and excellent lightfastness—are nearly identical to those of the low-soluble cadmium colours that DANIEL SMITH previously manufactured.

Other unique watercolours are made from pigments that DANIEL SMITH has sourced, often from particular locations, such as Burgundy Yellow Ochre, Monte Amiata Natural Sienna, and Roasted French Ochre. Some are created exclusively by DANIEL SMITH, including Cascade Green, Deep Sap Green, and Green Gold.

DANIEL SMITH also finds unusual pigments to create colours like Anthraquinoid Scarlet, Lunar Blue, and Enviro-Friendly Red Iron Oxide, providing more options for artists.
