Sennelier oil paint sticks are creamy, very lightfast sticks that can be used for sketching, painting or producing complete works of art on any traditional oil painting surface. With Sennelier artists' oil sticks, nothing must come between the artist's hand and the canvas.

Composition: A portion of the oil has been replaced with a neutral mineral wax to achieve the appearance of a stick. The colours are extra-fine: the pure pigments are ground with vegetable oils (siccatives), selected for their weak yellowing over time. The pigments were selected to create these oil bars with high concentration and excellent lightfastness. Solid extra-fine colours have opaque or transparent shades depending on the nature of the pigments used.

Supports: The oil sticks can be applied directly to traditional surfaces for painting, including versatile acrylic-primed or oil-primed surfaces, as well as canvas, canvas board, prepared panels, or paint paper.

Directions: Apply the solid oil paint, which is essentially an oil stick, in a reasonably thin film (do not exceed 1 mm). It is superimposable in the same way as the oil paint paste, and it may be diluted with petrol or turpentine. Before use, peel back the film on the surface of the oil stick. The latter will reform after a few days of non-use. Drying takes 2 to 5 days, depending on the layer thickness and weather conditions. There is a colourless medium that allows obtaining transparency and glaze effects.

The product retains its quality over time and requires no special precautions except to avoid exposure to sources of heat that could alter it.

Final Treatment: Once dry, the paint is varnished, similar to a traditional oil painting, after a minimum of six months of drying, with a final varnish.
