You can use lighter sketching, drawing paper, or sketchbooks when practicing rough sketches. However, suppose you are making a detailed pencil drawing, choosing archival paper from 100% rag for detailed illustrations that will last and not turn yellow or become brittle over time. You can also get an acid-free paper from wood fibres and other cellulose materials such as linen and bamboo. Legion Paper’s Stonehenge series, Arches 140 lb hot press watercolour paper, and Fabriano Bristol paper. Look for pads or sheets of paper to test which paper suits your needs. Canson and Strathmore have drawings and sketchbooks, pads that you can try on various papers.
