Winsor and Newton Cotman Watercolour Brushes

4.4331 Reviews  Write A Review  Ask Question

Cotman brushes are a range of pure synthetic watercolour brushes of the highest quality that have been created using the same skills generated over many years, like those used in making the finest sable brushes. The brushes are composed of a blend of synthetic fibres of different thicknesses. The thicker fibres contribute strength and spring, while the thinner fibres improve colour-holding capacity. Together, they retain a perfect point, time after time.

Cotman brushes are designed specifically for use with watercolour and water-based media.

Cotman brushes were the first complete synthetic brushes developed by Winsor andamp; Newton.

  • High-quality synthetic watercolour brushes
  • Blended synthetic fibres of differing thicknesses
  • Thick fibres give strength and spring
  • Thin fibres for colour carrying capacity

The secret of the Cotman brush lies in the fibres, by blending fibres of differing thicknesses and achieving the artist's three most essential qualities. The thicker fibres contribute strength and spring, while the thinner fibres improve colour carrying capacity, which has recently been enhanced by 50%. Together, they retain a perfect point, time after time.

The handles are specifically designed to provide balance and comfort when painting; the ferrules are made from high-quality nickel-plated brass, which helps prevent corrosion clogging of hair and enables easy cleaning.

In addition, the broadest range of styles and sizes to suit all applications are available, from mops for large washes, angled brushes for detail, riggers for longer fine lines, and fans and filberts.

Cotman brushes are designed specifically for use with watercolour and water-based media.
