Item #: 7403
Description: wOil Water Mixable - Cadmium Orange (Hue) 37ml
The oil uses many single pigments for brilliance and clean
colour mixing to bring out the individual colour characteristics, from opacity
to transparency. The wOil formulation does not contain water. The linseed oil and safflower oil vehicles have been
modified to allow the colour to mix with water, creating a stable emulsion
while retaining the working characteristics of traditional oil colours. The
wOil colours, mediums, and varnishes allow you to achieve all traditional oil
painting techniques. Key: Opacity - (T) Transparent, (ST) Semi-Transparent, (SO)
Semi-Opaque, (O) Opaque. ASTM-LF = Lightfastness ASTM D-4302 - (l) Excellent, (ll)
Very Good, (lll) Good, (NR) Not Rated. wOil is ideal for the following artists: The wOil range has been formulated using many single
pigments for brilliance of colour and clean colour mixing. The most suitable
oils and dispersion methods have been selected to bring out the individual
colour characteristics, from opacity to transparency. There is no water in the
wOil formulation. The linseed oil and safflower oil vehicles have been
modified to allow the colour to mix with water, creating a stable emulsion
while retaining the working characteristics of traditional oil colour. wOil Consistency/Viscosity—wOil has a smooth, buttery
consistency, allowing the artist to use it easily. The viscosity or thickness
of the colour is medium to heavy body, which can be used directly from the tube
or thinned with water or wOil mediums as desired. wOil Colour and Blending—wOil colours can be blended with
traditional oil colours and mediums. WOil Colour is not classified as
water-based but can be combined with acrylic-based colours (add a few drops of
water). wOil Colour Luster—The reflective quality of the wOil film
varies from colour to colour because each pigment requires differing volumes of
oil in the formulation. The addition of water mixed to thin the colour, as well
as the use of wOil mediums, will also alter surface lustre. wOil Permanence—Most artists want to ensure their colours
are permanent. Pigment developments have led to continued improvements in the
lightfastness of artists' colours, which have been utilized in wOil. All wOil colours are rated Lightfastness I or II and are
recommended as permanent for artists' use. wOil Drying time - When WOil is
thinned with water, the water evaporates from the paint film fairly rapidly,
leaving behind a traditional film of oil that dries using oxidation. The
different drying rates of wOil colours are due to the different reactions of
each pigment when mixed with oil. wOil colours should dry between 3 and 5 days,
slightly faster than traditional oil colours.
