The concentrated Walnut Alkyd Medium thins the colour, accelerates drying, enhances adhesion between layers and increases surface sheen and flexibility while remaining essentially non-yellowing.
Our walnut alkyd medium is designed to augment the unique nature of our oil colour but is also completely compatible with other artists' oil colours and mediums.

M Graham's Walnut Oil and Walnut Alkyd mediums were developed to provide artists with a non-toxic, environmentally responsible alternative to solvent-based, rapid drying alkyd mediums.
Walnut Oil mediums closely resemble many characteristics of sun-thickened oils and natural resins typically used with oils but do not require the use of harmful solvents. Walnut Oil mediums remain flexible after drying; over time, they will not yellow as much as linseed oils.
Brushes may be cleaned during and after painting with Walnut Oil with a final washing in mild detergent if the painting is not resumed for several days. No harsh thinners or turpentines are required for clean-up. Reduces disposal of harmful chemicals and unnecessary pollution.
Walnut Oil has been used interchangeably with linseed oil for over a thousand years. It flows more freely and has less tendency to crack or yellow.
Today it is known that Renaissance masters such as Da Vinci and Durer generally favoured walnut oil over linseed oil.
