They combine the intensity of pen and ink with the versatility of line and wash. To create strong, vivid tones, apply a light water wash to achieve a translucent, ink-like effect. Wash the pigment out thoroughly, and once dry, the colour will be permanent and can be worked over again with soluble and non-soluble media. The possibilities are endless, and the results are stunning. Use this colour chart as an approximation of the actual colour. If exact colour matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

The pencils are as versatile as watercolour pencils, with a firmer texture that allows them to perform with the brilliant intensity of traditional pen and ink.
- You can use them dry, but mix them with water, and the colour turns into vibrant ink; once dry, the colour wash is permanent and can be embellished with wet or dry media
- Smooth, dry colour is easy to apply and produces a vibrant finish.
- Large colour strip for expressive gestures, bright, intense colour and easy colour wash to create an ink-like effect.
- Firm lay down - more like a pen.

Create in Three Ways:
On Silk — Wet the silk and use a dry pencil to draw directly on the surface, or lift the colour from the pencil with a wet brush and apply directly onto the surface. Once dry, the piece can be washed and ironed.
Rubber Stamping — Use the Inktense pencils to fill in gaps created by the stamp or mix Inktense and water to create a paint that can be applied to the stamp surface.
Quilting — Dab a small amount of textile medium on your fabric and colour it with Inktense for a permanent design.
