This gesso is ideal for painting over coloured or patterned surfaces. The transparent Artist’s quality ground keeps the undersurface work visible.
Clear Gesso also provides an idyllic degree of texture for pastel, oil pastel, graphite, and charcoal, as well as an excellent ground for acrylic and oil paints. The Artist’s quality primer preps many surfaces, Ready to use directly for applying paints such as oils, acrylics, tempera etc.
Once dry, our gesso will remain semi-flexible and will not yellow.

Gesso provides an absorbent surface ideal for paint. It is waterproof, lightfast, non-yellowing and flexible. Demco gesso can be used with acrylic and oil painting, casein, gouache, pastels, charcoal and pencils. It is easy to apply with a brush, a paint roller or a paint knife on dry and porous surfaces.
Supports dry surfaces: canvas, cotton, cardboard, plaster, concrete and more.
Use this gesso like most regular gessoes: apply the black gesso, allow it to dry, and sand between layers to achieve a smooth finish. Once dry, Demco Gesso Black will remain semi-flexible and will not yellow over time.
Practical information:
- Clean with water and soap.
- Shake before use.
- Do not apply with turpentine or oil.
- Can be diluted with water in small quantities to avoid cracking.
