It's fun to use, beginner-friendly and ideal if you want to learn how to create very contemporary, very striking images to hang on your wall or even sell!

Because it's so loose and expressive, it's much easier and faster to learn than traditional watercolour painting. You have no choice but to let the paint do the work. And whereas Watercolour painting can be stressful at times (lots of opportunity for the painting to go wrong), with Joanne's technique of using Brusho® there aren't really any errors to be made!

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. Watercolour paper (Joanne uses 140lb cold pressed Bockingford)
  2. A couple of watercolour brushes (i.e. size 12 and 8)
  3. A pencil
  4. Water spray bottle (any cheap atomiser will do)
  5. Water jug / container
  6. A palette (cheap plastic one is fine, or even an old plate)
  7. Old cloth / rag (for catching excess water)
  8. Paper towel
  9. Drawing board (so you can tip your paper for colour runs)
  10. Masking tape
  11. Wax resist sticks or chunk of candle wax (any cheap, clear candle or tea light is fine)
  12. Permanent marker pens (a thick and thin nib is best)
  13. Household bleach and extra spray bottle
  14. An old paint brush or two for using with the bleach.
  15. Brusho Crystal Colours are completely non-toxic and non-hazardous. Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from staining.
