Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments

Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments are our most versatile product yet! Mix Pearl Ex into any viscous medium for a metallic/pearlescent effect.

Pearl Ex is a safe, inert pigment that exhibits extreme colourfastness and stability, ideal for interior, fashion, fine arts and other archival applications. It has a use for every artist, from watercolourists to auto painters and faux finishers to rubber stampers. Try it mixed with Jacquard Gum Arabic or Pearl Ex Varnish for applying to most surfaces, or mixed into one of Jacquard's colourless extenders for use on fabric. It can also be combined with other art mediums, such as oils, acrylics, encaustic, Dorland's Wax, or polymer clays, or spread dry on porous surfaces.

Pearl Ex creates a metallic effect without actually being made of metal. It will never tarnish or fade. The different particle sizes produce different effects, from a smooth pearly lustre to a highly metallic sheen.

Note: Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments were specifically developed as an art material. They are NOT for cosmetic use.

Fabric/Fibre/Surfaces

Clay, polymer clay, encaustics, paper, shrink plastic, leather, glass, canvas, wood, and more! Mix with a binder to use on natural and synthetic fibres - 49 Colours - 3 g

Gum Arabic

Gum Arabic is used as a binder medium for a variety of applications. Use with water and Pearl Ex (or other dry pigments) to make your own transparent watercolours, washes, stamping and calligraphy inks. For use on paper, wood or any surface that will not be washed. Gum Arabic produces a glossy, easy-to-brush or stamp-on paint that easily mixes and cleans up with water.

Instructions

Add dry gum to the pigment in a ratio of 1 part gum to 4 parts pigment. (The ratio of gum to pigment may be adjusted for different effects.) Slowly add water and mix until the desired consistency is achieved. Solutions of gum and water may also be prepared and stored in a cool place for later use.
