This semi-transparent black-brown is low-staining and lightfast, making it a fundamental addition to any palette. Sepia can be diluted to a subtle mushroom hue from its rich, deep state in concentrated strokes. Enjoy this transition in washes from near to far or from shadow to light in cultivated fields and farm subjects. Wet West Coast fence posts, such as bulrushes and cattails, are fun to paint. Experiment with each technique of wet into wet.
