Kum, based in Erlangen, Germany, have been making some of the best pencil sharpeners in the world since 1919. They make a vast selection of different sharpeners, from the simplest block sharpeners in brass or magnesium alloys, to the wonderful Automatic Long Point sharpener that sharpens wood and lead in separate stages to give a long, narrow point.

They all feature KUMandrsquo;s excellent quality high-carbon steel blades, which are made to be slightly curved so they act like a spring, maintaining a constant pressure on the screw, and keeping the blade firmly in place.
