M Graham Gouache is the VIRTUE of fine art gouache, which is pure colour, crafted with high-performance, lightfast pigments and no chalk or adulterants that degrade the appearance of the colour when dry.

M Graham Gouache is crafted with the same high-quality, lightfast pigments used in their Oil, Acrylic and Watercolours. Exceptional tinting strength, working properties and extremely opaque matte finish provide the fine artist with a permanent piece of art. High pigment loads of brilliant colour allow brighter, more exciting design works. Colour selection combines traditional painting colours and popular colours preferred by graphic artists, illustrators or in colour mixing theory. Made with natural Northwest Honey and gum arabic for improved flow, added moistness and resistance to cracking.

  • Artist quality gouache paints made with pure blackberry honey
  • Free for chalk and opacifying adulterants
  • The reflective matte finish provides a vehicle that can be used alone or in mixed media combination with watercolour.
  • High pigment loads of deep, dense colour
  • Made in the USA
  • Conforms to ASTM D4236.
  • Tube Dimensions: 1.1 x 0.8 x 3 inches (2.8 x 1.9 x 7.6 cm)

Pigment Composition / Permanence

The name of the colour index is established and published by the American Association of Textile Chemists, the Society of Dyers and Colourists, and the Society of Dyers and Colourists. It is a generic category and does not refer to a specific pigment. While it enables the artist to form a general idea of opacity, transparency, and lightfastness for a pigment in a particular colour space, it does not provide definitive information. Many grades of pigment are available from several manufacturers with an extensive range of physical attributes.

Chemical Name

The chemical name is a brief, commonly used generic designation of the pigment type composition. In conjunction with the colour index name, the chemical name can broaden the artist's understanding of the source and nature of the pigment used.

Permanence / Lightfast Rating

The permanence of a colour is a measure of the lightfastness of the pigment when dispersed in a vehicle and subjected to conditions which emulate the exposure usually given to a fine arts object. Such ratings are generally considered vehicle or media-dependent and can vary between media — thus, pigment, which is suitably lightfast for oil colour, might not be lightfast in watercolour.

Transparency and Opacity

Each colour has a designation indicating relative degrees of transparency to opacity. Please consider these as a guideline because any thin film application, while not necessarily transparent, can be interpreted by the view as such.
