#22B Standard Extra Fine Nib — Medium stiff, bronze finish for ornamental work and ruling.
The nib has good flexibility, is not too flexible nor too stiff and can produce very thin hairlines and good swells. A very popular and dependable bronze-finish nib that is great for Copperplate, Spencerian, and other pointed-pen scripts.
The nib works for x-heights of 3/16"-1/16". It has a sharp point but will work on slightly textured surfaces, though it will tend to catch on upstrokes on those papers.
Although the Hunt 22B point is less sharp and stiffer, more pressure will be required to create thick shades (swells).
The #22B, #56 and #99 nibs may all be used with either a straight/classic style or oblique penholder.
Speedball Standard Point Dip Pen Nibs
Three types of pen nib holders are available: standard point, fine point, and crow quill.
Standard pen nibs have a larger, half-round body which only fits a standard pen holder. The standard pen holder is also used for scratch art and linoleum cutters.
- Standard nibs do not fit in quill or fine point holders.
- Crow quill pen nibs have a cylindrical holder.
- Fine point nibs fit in a holder with a smaller, half-round body.
