Weber Matvar 53 Varnish 236ml

Quick drying matte varnish for oil colour, watercolour and tempera painting. Non-Yellowing flexible acrylic resin.

A colourless, quick-drying acrylic resin varnish, Matvar 53® will impart a flexible matte finish on oil, watercolour and tempera paintings. It will not dull tonal values, and because it contains no wax, it can be painted over. It is resistant to cracking, peeling and blooming, and will not smudge from handling. Brushes clean up easily with turpentine—a matte finish varnish for oil colour, watercolour, and tempera painting.

This colourless, acrylic resin varnish provides the artist with a non-yellowing, flexible, transparent matte film when dry. When used for an overall matte finish on varnished and unvarnished work, it will not dull tonal values and may be painted over. Quick drying and ready for use, it contains no wax and will not mar or smudge through handling. Resists cracking, peeling, blushing and blooming. Thin and clean up with turpentine. Turpenoid cannot be used with this product.

Application: Mix Matvar 53 thoroughly before and while using it to fully disperse the matting agent and ensure a uniform matte finish. Apply with a quality varnish brush to avoid brush strokes and ensure a smooth finish. Matvar 53 is non-yellowing and will not dull tonal values. Matvar 53 is prepared from a clear acrylic resin which may be removed with mild solvent for later painting conservation. Thin and clean brushes with turpentine.
