Liquitex Acrylic Mediums—Surface preparations seal and provide a tooth to nearly any painting surface, establishing the foundation for stable and permanent colour applications. We offer five different types of prep products to suit all kinds of work.

Mix with acrylic paint to increase its body and achieve an oil paint-like consistency that holds brush or palette knife marks. This medium is ideal for creating high peaks and sculptural applications that maintain their shape when dry, with minimal shrinkage. It is also ideal for making collages with heavier objects. This medium keeps paint workable longer than most gel mediums and dries to a translucent matte finish.

Gel Mediums add body to thinner paint for impasto techniques, extend colour volume, and add transparency. They also extend the 'open time' by drying more slowly than thinner paint films. Additionally, these mediums alter acrylic paints in various ways, and as they contain acrylic resins, they tend to enhance adhesion and durability.
