Liquitex provides the broadest range of acrylic mediums to inspire creativity at every stage of the painting process. Liquitex Gel Mediums enhance thinner paint for impasto techniques while also extending colour volume and adding transparency. Gels generally dry more slowly than thinner paint films, allowing for extended workable time.

Gel mediums can modify acrylic paints in various ways, and since they contain acrylic resins, they tend to improve adhesion and durability. Liquitex gel mediums can add texture, enhance colour, and increase transparency in your work.

Liquitex Gloss Gel Painting Medium is a transparent medium that dries to a gloss finish. Its viscosity and body are similar to those of Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Colour. Depending on the thickness of the application, it can dry clear to translucent.

It is an ideal medium for mixing with Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic Colour to extend the paint, enhance its brilliance, and increase its transparency without altering its thickness.

APPLICATIONS:

AS EXTENDER: Mix with Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Colour to extend volume and increase transparency while maintaining paint viscosity. Mix with Liquitex Soft Body Artist Colour to extend volume and increase transparency while thickening paint viscosity.

AS GROUND: Use transparent ground for acrylic paint instead of gesso to allow the substrate to be seen. Wash cotton or linen canvas before use to prevent substrate-induced discoloration (SID). When applying Liquitex Gloss Gel Medium to raw canvas, use adequate pressure to force the medium into the canvas and weave to ensure proper bonding between the gel and canvas.

FOR COLLAGE: Excellent adhesion for collage and decoupage.

USING POWDERED PIGMENTS: Utilize a binder for powdered pigments to create an affordable "student grade" heavy body (thick) gloss acrylic paint or to develop unique paint films. Ensure that the pigment is compatible with acrylic emulsion.
