Liquitex offers the broadest range of acrylic mediums to inspire creativity at every stage of the painting process. Liquitex Fluid Mediums are fluid and reduce the viscosity of thicker paints and gels. They tend to self-level and do not retain brushstrokes. Liquitex Fluid Mediums modify acrylic paints in various ways and include acrylic resins to preserve or enhance adhesion and durability.
Liquitex Matte Fluid Painting Medium creates a matte, non-reflective finish. Mix it into any acrylic paint to increase transparency, extend colour, increase matte sheen, improve film integrity, facilitate the flow of paint, and add flexibility and adhesion to the paint film. Mix with Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish to achieve a semi-gloss or satin medium that is opaque when wet and translucent when dry.

Applications as an Extender: Mix with Liquitex Soft Body Artist Colour to extend volume and increase transparency while maintaining viscosity. Mix with Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Colour or Basics Acrylic Colour to extend volume and increase transparency while decreasing paint viscosity.
As a Fixative: Use as a matte fixative over artwork to reduce gloss or shine. Mix 1 part Matte Medium with 1 part distilled water and apply using an atomizer or airbrush. Any excess medium applied to the surface may result in fogging.
As Ground: It is recommended that a transparent fluid medium (size) with excellent tooth and adhesion be used as a ground in place of gesso. This will enable the support's colour and texture to show through.
Exterior Murals: If the support or wall is relatively smooth, a coat of Matte Medium should be brushed on, or two coats should be sprayed onto the surface before applying gesso.
