Walnut Alkyd Medium is certified as non-toxic.
Concentrated Walnut Alkyd Medium thins the colour, speeds up drying, improves adhesion between layers, and enhances surface sheen and flexibility while remaining essentially non-yellowing. The walnut alkyd medium is crafted to amplify the unique qualities of oil colour but is also completely compatible with other artists' oil colours and mediums. It is ideally suited for alla prima and glazing applications. Cleaning brushes with walnut oil offers a natural method to remove colour without creating a solvent hazard.

Description: M Graham Walnut Alkyd Medium 8oz
M. Graham's Walnut Oil and Walnut Alkyd mediums offer artists a non-toxic, environmentally friendly alternative to solvent-based, fast-drying alkyd mediums. These walnut oil mediums closely mimic many characteristics of sun-thickened oils and natural resins typically used with oils but do not require harmful solvents. Furthermore, walnut oil mediums remain flexible after drying; over time, they tend not to yellow as much as linseed oils.
Brushes can be cleaned during and after painting with walnut oil, followed by a final wash in mild detergent if painting does not resume for several days. No harsh thinners or turpentines are required for clean-up, which helps minimize the disposal of harmful chemicals and unnecessary pollution.
Walnut oil is a natural vegetable oil that effectively removes colour from artists’ brushes. It does not evaporate or strip essential oils from the brushes. Adding walnut oil to the colour slows drying, enhances flow, and increases sheen.
The walnut oil medium is crafted to enhance the distinct qualities of our oil colour while being fully compatible with other artists' oil colours and mediums.
