M Graham's Walnut Oil and Walnut Alkyd mediums were designed to provide artists with a non-toxic, environmentally friendly alternative to solvent-based, quick-drying alkyd mediums. Walnut Oil mediums closely mirror many properties of sun-thickened oils and natural resins commonly used with oils but do not necessitate harmful solvents. After drying, Walnut Oil mediums remain flexible and less prone to yellowing than linseed oils over time.

While using walnut oil for painting, brushes can be cleaned and given a final wash with mild detergent if painting will not continue for several days. Cleanup does not require harsh thinners or turpentine, which helps minimize harmful chemical disposal and reduce unnecessary pollution.
