DANIEL SMITH Iridescent Gold Watercolour Ground allows you to paint watercolours on any surface and gives you a beautiful, iridescent gold surface! When applied to a white surface, the ground makes a luminous gold paintable area. Because it is semi-transparent, the colour and/or pattern of the surface is applied to show slightly through the iridescent gold sheen.
An excellent ground for watercolour on all surfaces. Absorbent surfaces: Canvas, Paper, Plaster, Hardboard. Non-Absorbent surfaces: Glass, Plastic, Metal-for best results these will need to be abraded before application of the ground. Thick, brushable and heavily pigmented.

An excellent ground for watercolour on all surfaces: absorbent surfaces: Canvas, Paper, Plaster, Hardboard. non-sorbent surfaces: Glass, Plastic, Metal. For best results, these will need to be abraded before the ground is applied thick, brushable, and heavily pigmented.
Daniel Smith Watercolour Iridescent Gold Ground can be used on almost any surface for water media. The pigment used is Mica and Iron Oxide (PW 20). The lightfast rating is excellent.
For deepest gold, apply 2 to 3 thin coats of the Iridescent Gold Watercolour Ground. Your transparent and semi-transparent watercolours will add a glaze of colour when painted over the Iridescent Gold Ground, modifying their colour. You can paint over an entire surface with the ground or only in areas that you wish to add iridescent gold effects, perhaps using the other DANIEL SMITH Watercolour Grounds in the other areas if you are not applying it to watercolour paper.
Apply the Watercolour Ground straight from the container using a foam brush or a synthetic brush for a more textured finish. For the smoothest surface, apply very thin coats with a foam brush, allowing to dry thoroughly between coats. Curing: to allow the watercolour ground to attain the correct degree of absorption, let the watercolour ground dry and cure for at least 24 hours (depending on humidity) after the last coat. As with all the DANIEL SMITH Watercolour Grounds, our Iridescent Gold Watercolour Ground provides a surface to paint with your watercolours on almost any substrate, and it is mixed media friendly.
