Artisan Water-Mixable Oil, Thinners, and Varnishes. As with conventional oil painting, mediums allow you to alter your tube colour's characteristics and working properties. Like traditional oil paint, Artisan has its own specially developed range of Thinners, Oils, Mediums, and Varnishes to allow all techniques to be achieved with Artisan colours.

• Non-yellowing. 
• Painting must be arid (6-12 months).
• Use only as a final varnish.
• Shake well before use.
• UV-resistant varnishes protect paintings made with Artisan colour and can be removed with Artisan varnish remover.

The products are Thinner, Linseed Oil, Safflower Oil, Stand Oil, Painting Medium, Fast Drying Medium, Impasto Medium, Gloss Varnish, Matt Varnish, and Satin Varnish. These products are certified "AP Non-Toxic" by the USA's Art and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI). They include water-mixable mediums. Painting with oil paint almost always involves using mediums and oils to better control the colour, prevent over-thinning (see also solvents), and maintain the flexibility of the paint film (fat over lean).
