Daniel Smith Pearlescent White Watercolour Ground allows you to paint watercolours on any surface and gives you a beautiful, pearlescent surface!

DANIEL SMITH Pearlescent White Watercolour Ground allows you to paint watercolours on any surface and gives you a beautiful, pearlescent surface to paint on! When applied to a white surface, the ground makes a white pearlescent paintable area, and because it is semi-transparent, the colour and/or pattern of the surface it is applied onto shows slightly through the pearlescent sheen.

When painted over the pearlescent white ground, your transparent and semi-transparent watercolours will have a slight pearlescent effect. You can paint over an entire surface with the ground or only in areas where you wish to add pearlescent effects. If you are not applying it to watercolour paper, perhaps use the other DANIEL SMITH Watercolour Grounds in the other areas.

Apply the Watercolour Ground straight from the container using a foam brush or a synthetic brush for a more textured finish. For the smoothest surface, apply very thin coats with a foam brush, allowing them to dry thoroughly between coats. Curing: To allow the watercolour ground to attain the correct degree of absorption, let the ground dry and cure for at least 24 hours (depending on humidity) after the last coat.
